Five stage construction record through to opening day
An institutional build documented across five stages of construction and covered live on opening day, delivered as both a progress record and a finished film.
The challenge
Two different jobs under one engagement. A construction record that stays comparable across a multi year build, and then live coverage of a public opening with a crowd present, which raises real standoff and airspace questions.
The site
An institutional building in Edmonton, documented from early construction through to the completed facility.
Equipment and method
Capture positions logged early and repeated on each return so the stages align. For opening day the plan set an outdoor standoff of roughly 30 m from the gathering, with a separate interior flight of the empty building carried out when no occupants were present.
Airspace and safety
Urban Edmonton airspace, with the standoff plan and authorization settled before the day rather than judged on site.
Deliverables
A dated five stage progress record, mapping and imagery of the site, and a 90 second edited cinematic film of the opening with one revision round included.
Result
A continuous visual history of the build plus a finished piece marking its completion, from one operator working to one specification across the whole project.
