A complete property record, captured in a single visit

The challenge

A property is difficult to describe after the fact. A tenancy ends and the condition of the ground becomes a matter of recollection against recollection. An owner wants to improve his grounds and has to plan from memory and a walk around. Photographs taken from standing height show whatever the person holding the camera pointed at, and nothing about the rest.

The sites

A leased yard of roughly three to four acres in the northwest Edmonton industrial area, captured in September 2026 after the tenant vacated. And a shipping company property in St. Albert of twenty hectares, close to forty nine acres, where the owner and the property manager wanted to see the whole site at once.

Equipment and method

One visit produced the full set at both sites: video, stills, 360 spherical stations across the property, and a mapped capture processed into an orthomosaic with 2D and 3D outputs. The yard capture ran without correction streaming, because the deliverable is a record of condition and relative geometry carries that. Adding corrections would have added cost without adding anything the client needed.

Airspace and safety

Local airspace at both sites, with launch positions chosen to keep clear of yard traffic and adjacent operations.

Deliverables

Orthomosaic with 2D and 3D outputs, a DroneDeploy link the client can open in a browser and measure on, 360 stations that can be walked through, plus video and stills. Everything dated to the day of capture.

Result

For the yard, a dated record of the ground as it was left, complete enough that the client's counsel confirmed it met what they needed. For the St. Albert property, a measurable picture of the whole site that the owner and his property manager could plan against, confirming the grounds were being kept well and showing where there was room to do more. Same flight, same deliverables, two entirely different questions answered.
