Drone services in Fort McMurray and the Wood Buffalo region

Fort McMurray work is planned as a mobilised multi day program, with site orientation, insurance documentation and access requirements completed before we drive north on Highway 63.

Industrial and energy clients in Wood Buffalo get a program built around the trip: several sites, several deliverables, one mobilisation. On oil sands leases that usually means facility and tank condition imagery, thermal scans of process and electrical assets, terrain capture for earthworks, tailings and reclamation areas, and progress documentation on active construction.

The ground shapes the method. Muskeg and boreal forest limit where a crew can walk, so aerial capture covers ground that would take days on foot, and lidar reads the terrain under the trees where photos only see canopy. Winter access roads open sites that are hard to reach in summer, and we plan programs around those windows.

Contractor qualification is routine here. Certificates of insurance, WCB clearance, safety documentation and vendor onboarding packages are completed before mobilisation, so the crew is flying on the first morning.

Sites near Fort McMurray International Airport, south of the city, and the private aerodromes serving the mine sites are checked against their airspace before we quote.

Questions from Fort McMurray clients

Can you work on an oil sands lease?

Yes. We complete the operator's orientation and prequalification first, then fly to the site's procedures. Programs are planned so one trip covers every asset on the list.
